How to Set Up & Use iVCam
A complete, beginner-friendly tutorial to turn your phone into a professional webcam. From downloading to your first video call β we cover everything.
What You Need Before Starting
iVCam requires two components working together: a Windows PC running the iVCam client, and a phone running the iVCam app. Here's what to have ready.
Windows PC
Windows 7 SP1, 8, 10, or 11 β both 32-bit and 64-bit supported. No Mac desktop client is available.
iPhone or Android Phone
iOS 13+ or Android 5.0+. Your phone's camera becomes the webcam β the newer the phone, the better the video quality.
Same Wi-Fi Network (or USB Cable)
Both devices must be on the same local network for wireless connection. Alternatively, use a USB cable for a more stable, wired connection.
How iVCam Setup Works
Setting up iVCam takes less than 5 minutes. Here's the process at a glance β detailed steps follow below.
Install PC Client
Download and install the free iVCam Windows client. It creates a virtual webcam driver on your PC that apps like Zoom and OBS will detect automatically.
Get the Mobile App
Download the iVCam app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). The app captures video from your phone's camera and streams it to your PC.
Connect Automatically
Open both apps on the same Wi-Fi network and they connect automatically β no manual IP configuration needed. You can also connect via USB cable.
Use in Any App
Select 'e2eSoft iVCam' as your camera in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, OBS Studio, Discord, or any other webcam-enabled application.
Detailed Setup Guide
Follow these steps carefully for a smooth first-time setup. Each step includes tips to help you avoid common issues.
Download & Install the iVCam PC Client
Visit the official download page and get the iVCam Windows client software. Choose the 64-bit version (recommended for most PCs) or the 32-bit version for older systems.
- During installation, Windows may ask you to trust the e2eSoft driver β click 'Install' to allow the virtual webcam driver
- If your antivirus flags the installer, add an exception β iVCam is safe and digitally signed
- The installer also installs Apple Bonjour service for automatic device discovery
Download the iVCam Mobile App
Install the iVCam app on your iPhone or Android phone. The app is free to download and use β the paid version removes the watermark and unlocks additional features.
- iOS: Search 'iVCam' on the App Store, or use the direct link below
- Android: Available on Google Play, or download the APK directly from the official website
- Allow iVCam to access your camera and microphone when prompted
Connect Your Phone to Your PC
With both apps running, iVCam will automatically detect and connect your phone to your PC over Wi-Fi. Make sure both devices are on the same local network.
- Wi-Fi: Ensure both devices are connected to the same router β the connection happens automatically via Bonjour or UDP broadcast
- USB: For iOS, install iTunes first; for Android, enable USB Debugging in Developer Options
- If auto-detection fails, tap the '+' button in the app and manually enter your PC's IP address
- Allow iVCam through Windows Firewall if prompted (TCP/UDP port 5898)
Select iVCam in Your Video App
Once connected, your phone's camera feed appears in the iVCam PC client window. Now open any video conferencing or streaming app and select 'e2eSoft iVCam' as your camera source.
- In Zoom: Settings β Video β Camera β select 'e2eSoft iVCam'
- In Microsoft Teams: Settings β Devices β Camera β select 'e2eSoft iVCam'
- In Google Meet: Settings β Video β Camera β select 'e2eSoft iVCam'
- In OBS Studio: Add a Video Capture Device source β select 'e2eSoft iVCam'
Adjust Settings for Best Quality
Fine-tune your video quality by adjusting resolution, frame rate, and encoder settings. The right settings depend on your network speed, PC hardware, and use case.
- For video calls: 720p at 30fps provides a good balance of quality and performance
- For streaming/recording: 1080p at 30fps or higher is recommended if your hardware supports it
- Enable HEVC encoder in app settings for better compression (if your phone supports it)
- Enable Hardware Decoding in the PC client for lower CPU usage

Set between 15β60 fps. 30 fps works well for video calls; 60 fps is smoother for streaming. Higher FPS uses more resources.
Video Encoder
Select HEVC (H.265) for better compression if your phone supports it β it reduces bandwidth usage compared to H.264.
Camera Controls
Camera Switching
Tap the camera button in the app to cycle between front, back wide-angle, back ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses.
Zoom & Focus
Pinch to zoom in the app, or use Ctrl+/- on PC. Tap the screen for manual focus, long-press for AE/AF lock.
Mirror / Flip
Enable horizontal flip in settings if your video appears mirrored. Useful when reading text or showing documents.
Audio Settings
Wireless Microphone
Enable the sound feature to use your phone as a wireless microphone. Select 'e2eSoft iVCam' as the microphone in your video app.
Recording Device
In PC client Settings β Audio β Recording Device, choose 'Microphone (e2eSoft iVCam)' for best audio sync when recording.
Playback Device
Select which PC audio output plays the phone's microphone audio. Useful for monitoring your sound in real-time.
Background Effects
Background Removal
Requires Windows 10+ and a DirectX 12 GPU. Choose from blur, bokeh, mosaic, green screen, or custom image replacement.

Pro Tips for Best Performance
Get the most out of iVCam with these expert tips collected from power users and our support team.
Use 5GHz Wi-Fi
Connect both devices to the 5GHz band of your router for faster, more stable video transmission. Avoid 2.4GHz in congested environments.
Hardwire Your PC
Connect your PC to the router via Ethernet cable for the most reliable connection. This eliminates Wi-Fi bottlenecks on the PC side.
Enable Hardware Decoding
Turn on Hardware Decoding in the PC client's Settings β Miscs to offload video processing to your GPU and reduce CPU usage.
Save Phone Battery
iVCam auto-dims the screen after a period. Use USB connection to charge while streaming. Avoid using a phone case that traps heat.
Run iVCam in Background
Click the 'Γ' button to minimize iVCam to the system tray. This stops rendering the preview on the PC and reduces GPU usage.
Match Your Use Case
For casual calls, use 720p/30fps. For streaming, use 1080p/30fps. Only use 4K/60fps if you have a high-end GPU and stable network.
